Role:
Digital Designer, created illustrations using Adobe Fireflly
Problem:
Bath Welcomes Refugees needed a redesign of their website to reflect a new brand identity and better communicate the breadth of support they offer. The challenge was to share more detailed information while maintaining a welcoming, easy-to-navigate experience, without using photography of clients.
Process:
I collaborated with the brand designer to bring the refreshed visual identity to life on the website. Given the sensitive nature of our work and the need to avoid showing client faces, I proposed using faceless illustrations to respectfully represent the community. I used Adobe Firefly to generate visuals, then traced and refined them to create consistent, custom artwork for the site. This approach maintained the charity’s values while saving time and resources.Typography and accessibility were also key considerations. We selected the Noto typeface for its clarity and multilingual support, ensuring that the site would remain readable and functional across various languages via our translation plugin.
Requirements:
- Translate a new visual brand identity into a clean, accessible website
- Share more detailed information without overwhelming the user
- Respect client privacy by avoiding photographs and using alternative visual storytelling
- Ensure multilingual support for a diverse user base
Solution:
Delivered a warm, inclusive website that balances clarity with emotional resonance. By using faceless illustrations instead of photography, we protected client identities while still visually expressing the charity’s mission. The new site structure makes it easier for users to access resources, learn how to get involved, and understand the charity’s impact, all within a brand-aligned, multilingual experience.
